Farandole d'amours, circa 1890 - Lot 219
Farandole d'amours, circa 1890 Folded fan, the leaf in fine needle lace, gauze stitch, decorated with foliage framing a central cartel painted on skin. A young woman breathes the perfume of a rose, in company of two loves. Signed on the right "Hel. Arnould (?)". An exceptional fan in blond tortoiseshell** carved with a farandole of dancing lovers to the music of a violinist. When closed, the fan is decorated with a relief carving of four lovers holding hands. The refinement of the execution recalls the work of the sculptors Henneguy or Jorel père. Metal clasp. H.t. 30 cm-H.f. 18,5 cm (small wear, slight lacks) N.B. : the frame of this fan is to be compared with "La récréation des angelots" around 1880, illustrated in Maryse Volet, "European fans, From objet d'art to patented invention", 1994, n° 52, p. 76-77.
