COPY OF THE DUKE OF GLOUCESTER In-folio (388 x 282mm). 2 ff. preface, list of plates, 50 leaves of text. ILLUSTRATION: 50 plates drawn, copper-engraved and colored at the time by Henry Alken. The plates are dated 1824 and some leaves bear the watermark "Whatman 1822" as required by Schwerdt. ENGLISH BINDING OF THE PERIOD. Smooth blue morocco spine, beige boards, COMPLETELY UNRUBbed. PROVENANCE: H. R. H. Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester (1900-1974; bookplate) The frontispiece has been bound after pl. 19, three plates show small stains in the margins.
