Straw marquetry delivery table opening to a lectern, two covered compartments and a writing drawer. Very fine decoration of animated landscapes, branches of roses and carnations and foliage. 18th century, attributed to Delasson. H: 19 cm - W.: 61.5 cm D.: 38 cm (accidents and restorations) In France, from the 1750s to the Revolution, the trade in straw marquetry furniture and small items flourished in Paris, a period marked by frivolous fashions, a love of decor and unusual materials, and a taste for curiosities, of which this technique was a part. The press of the period enables us to identify one of the major craftsmen of this type of marquetry: M.
