TABLE SERVICE OF PRINCE JOACHIM MURAT (1767-1815). - Lot 392
TABLE SERVICE OF PRINCE JOACHIM MURAT (1767-1815). Manufacture Darte, Paris, circa 1805. Porcelain miniature litron cup and saucer, child's model, decorated with a frieze of palmettes and foliage alternating with gold rosebuds on an orange ground, inner gold border. Time wear to the gilding, slight firing cracks to the reverse of the saucer. No visible marks. H. 4.5 cm, 2 cm - Diam. 5 cm, 9 cm History: This piece comes from the dessert service ordered and delivered for Prince Joachim Murat shortly after his marriage to the emperor's sister Napoleon I, Caroline Bonaparte (1782-1839). It is very likely that this children's model was intended for their eldest son, Prince Achille Murat (1808-1815). The entire set of tableware was destined for the Hôtel de Thellusson, then the Hôtel de l'Élysée (now the Palais de l'Élysée), successive residences of the Murat family in Paris.
