KING LOUISPHILIPPE'S BLUE AGATE SERVICE FOR THE CHÂTEAU DE COMPIÈGNE. Manufacture Royale, Sèvres, 1836. Pastum sugar pot, 2nd size, in porcelain, decorated with a large frieze of gold palmettes on an agate-blue ground, with lion-headed handles. A small covered cassolette from the same service for the Château de Saint-Cloud is included, damaged and restored. Lid missing, small accident, as is. Blue mark: Sèvres, LP under crown, 1836. Red mark: Château de Compiègne. H. 9.5 cm - Diam. 10 cm History: The service "à fond bleu agate" was used by King Louis-Philippe for the Château de Compiègne and the Château de Saint-Cloud. It was later used by Emperor Napoleon III.
