Pygmalion and Galatea, Europe, circa 1760 Folded wedding fan, the leaf in skin, mounted in the English style, and painted with gouache. Rich border of flowers all around. The reverse is painted with a Chinese-style scene of a family enjoying the fruits of a garden. Fine ivory mount, cut, drilled, carved and engraved with small figures in medallions, birds, squirrels and flowers. In the center, a banquet scene seems to evoke the meeting of Dido and Aeneas. The head is adorned with a brown tortoiseshell plaque. H.t. 29 cm-H.f. 14.5 cm (good condition, wear) With an antique, opening, shaped frame.
