Born in Nagaevo, Russia, she studied at the Moscow Academy of Fine Arts, where she met her artistic partner Mikhail Larionov. Goncharova was a pioneer of Rayonism, an artistic movement co-founded with Larionov in 1910, advocating a new approach to pictorial representation based on the dynamics of light and color. She played an active role in Cubo-Futurism and other avant-garde movements, creating innovative works ranging from painting to stage design. After the October Revolution, Goncharova played a significant role in the Russian art scene, contributing to the development of Socialist Realism. She later emigrated to France, where she continued her versatile artistic career, working in fields ranging from painting to theater costume design. Her influence endures, and her works are exhibited in major collections around the world, attesting to her lasting impact on modern art.
