CHINE A pair of covered porcelain baluster-shaped vases decorated in gold on a black ground with scenes of horsemen fighting in a landscape bordered by rocks and willows, a frieze of ruyi on the neck and a frieze of lotus petals on the base. 19th century. Louis XV-style gilt bronze base. H. 45 cm. Restored chips on the rim of the lids and gold wear.
