Pair of large Meissen porcelain statuettes Meissen porcelain, 19th century, on two porcelain bases in the Meissen style. One statuette with blue mark with two crossed swords_x001e_; both with recessed marks Based on a model by Friedrich Elias Meyer, representing a couple of "_x001e_malabars_x001e_" with polychrome and gold décor au naturel_x001e_; the two rocaille-style bases resting on four feet decorated with the Sulkowski coat of arms_x001e_; some restoration, missing parts and minor wear Total height_x001e_: 43 and 40.5 cm. Notes_x001e_: These "_x001e_Malabars_x001e_" models are listed at the Meissen factory Meissen manufactory around 1748-49_x001e_; they were inspired by engravings by Pierre Aveline or Alexis Peyrotte, based on drawings by François Boucher, and printed in the Livre de Chinois.
