Lovers in the four seasons, circa 1750 - Lot 25
Lovers in the four seasons, circa 1750 Folded fan, the leaf in skin, mounted in English and painted with gouache of loves illustrating the four seasons. One near a brazier for Winter, two tasting fruit for Autumn, two cutting straw for Summer, and the last making bouquets of flowers for Spring. Two large bouquets adorn the sides with passion flowers, grapes, roses, carnations and tulips. Reverse: small mountainous landscape. White mother-of-pearl frame, pierced and engraved, showing a shepherdess and her sheep. Probably imported from China. Gilded metal clasp. H.t. 30,9 cm - H.f. 14,2 cm (restorations) In a box bearing the address of the fan maker Lachelin in Paris.
