VAN GARDEN Astronomer Pierrots, around 1910-1920 Fan in the form of a "balloon", the black gauze leaf painted from an evening in the moonlight, and Pierrots, on a terrace, busy observing the moon with an astronomical telescope. Signed right "Van Garden". Silent backhand. Frame in goldfish mother-of-pearl tinted brown, pierced, engraved and gilded. In the center, the mask of the Comedy. Flower-rubber and gold chain. 26,5 cm - H.f. 17 cm (very good condition, two small frame restorations) In its original box with the address of the Parisian house "Duvelleroy" under the lid. NB: these iconic fan scenes are announced in the newspaper "Le Gaulois" in 1913 "Examine also these scenes of Pierrots de Van Garden so beautifully painted, on black gauze, with night effect".
