"La girandola", fireworks display on the Castel Sant'Angelo on 29 June, around 1690-1700 Folded fan, the skin leaf, mounted in the English style, and painted on a black background with an exceptional night view of the Castel Sant'Angelo, Hadrian's former mausoleum, on the right bank of the Tiber in Rome. His silhouette is illuminated by a firework display fired from his roof. In the light can be seen the silhouettes of the crowd that came in large numbers. In the foreground, Romans are enjoying the show. Rich border of golden flowers and silvery scrolls, reverse side decorated with roses and blue volubilis, ivory frame* decorated with silver piqué. The head enhanced with a white mother-of-pearl plate. H.T.: 27.5 cm H.f. 16.5 cm (remaining) N.B.: On June 29, from Michelangelo, a firework display was fired over the Château Saint-Ange in Rome. From the 15th century until today, the "Girandola di Castel Sant' Angelo" has celebrated the patron saints of the city of Saint Paul and Saint Peter.
