Judith and Holofernes, around 1690 Folded fan, a skin sheet painted with several episodes of the story borrowed from the "Book of Judith" in the Old Testament. On the right, violent fighting rages as soldiers enter Holofernes' tent, which they discover beheaded. On the left, Judith, accompanied by her servant, holds the head of the military commander in one hand, and the sword with which she slit his throat in the other. Soldiers are flabbergasted by this vision. Silent lapel, ivory frame*, plumes inlaid with white mother-of-pearl and highlighted with a silver "piqué" work. The head enhanced with mother-of-pearl. H.t. 27 cm- H.f. 16 cm (wear and tear and rest)
