Li-Fong-Pao in Amsterdam, 1883 Fan, the sheet of wallpaper with flowers and insects. Signed and dated left "Li-Fong-Pao Amsterdam 20/9 83". The reverse: gold leaf seedling, black lacquered bamboo frame on the face and natural on the reverse. The engraved plumes of birds. The onion-shaped head decorated with engraved ivory*. 30.5 cm / H.f. 18 cm (acc. to the leaf)NB: Li-Fong-Pao was China's ambassador to Europe at the end of the 19th century. A literate man, he lived in Paris, then in Berlin and The Hague. At the 1883 international exhibition in Amsterdam, he was president of the Chinese Commission, and exhibited in one of the small rooms of the gallery specially reserved for him. It featured ivory, gold and enamel objects, porcelain, silk fabrics, furniture, screens and fans.
