Son of ivory, China, circa 1780-1800 A fan of the broken type made of ivory* very finely pierced, carved and engraved with a network of flowers, foliage and birds on which three cartels are placed. On the sides, two views of gardens with a pagoda and pavilions. In the centre, the intertwined number of the recipient "JC" in a shield surmounted by a drapery. The top of the strands alternately decorated with flowers and birds. The carved plumes of flowers and a bat. 27.5 cm. (missing)
