Velvets known as “ferronnerie,” Italy, second half of the 15 - Lot 92
Velvets known as “ferronnerie,” Italy, second half of the 15th century; three fragments of two patterned velvets, cut in green and crimson, featuring the same type of decorative motifs—leafy pomegranates and fleurons rendered in reserve on a pointed-arch grid of multilobed leaves. One has been re-sewn and lined (with some weak spots and micro-tears), 58 x 54.5 cm; the second consists of two pieces, approximately 38 x 22 cm and 8 x 41 cm.
