Porcelain vase decorated with a Buddhist lion enameled in wu - Lot 17
Porcelain vase decorated with a Buddhist lion enameled in wucai enamels China. Kangxi period (1662-1722) Porcelain vase with wucai decoration, baluster-shaped, resting on a slightly flared ring foot. The neck, straight and slightly narrowed, is underlined at its base by a frieze of stylized palmettes painted in iron-red and green, the lip marked with a fine fillet in underglaze blue. The body is decorated with a continuous polychrome pattern combining green, iron-red, underglaze blue, pale yellow and eggplant enamels. The decoration features broad foliage scrolls animated by blossoming peony flowers. A Buddhist lion, with sinuous body and expressive head, evolves among this floral decoration. A fel on the neck.
