Very rare tea bowl with European decoration attributed to th - Lot 46
Very rare tea bowl with European decoration attributed to the workshop of Cornelis Pronk. China. Qianlong period (1736-1795), circa 1740
Provenance: Dennis Vandekar, Antiques & Works of Art, 31 Crawford Ave. Wembley, Middx.
Decorated in famille rose enamels, with a parrot on a perch and a spaniel.
This type of design, intended for the Dutch market, is sometimes attributed to the workshop of Cornelis Pronk, but sometimes to Pieter Schenk. This design was also produced in polychrome on Meissen porcelain.
The polychrome version on Chinese porcelain is very rare. For a cup with this decoration in blue on glaze, see Cohen & Cohen, Baroque & Roll, 2016, p. 120, no. 76.
Restoration to the rim of the display stand.
