Pair of porcelain cups and display stands with European decoration. China. Qianlong period (1736-1795), circa 1770-1780 Provenance: Jorge Welsh, Lisbon Decorated in famille rose enamels, depicting a gallant couple under a tree. The man is asleep, with his tricorne in front of him, the young woman protecting him from the sun with a sheet. The decor, in the pastoral style, is based on an engraving by Charles Dominique Eisen (1720-1778) entitled Les Moissonneurs. published in 1768 by Chez Petit, rue du petit Pont in Paris.
