20th century French school - Lot 371
20th century French school View of Rocquencourt Palace Watercolor, partial signature lower left "Colau". On the back, a label stating "Belonging to Prince Murat, 1930. The Minister arriving at Rocquencourt". 22 x 43 cm History: The Countess de Provence had the château built by architect Charles de Wailly in 1781. The Revolution interrupted completion of the work, which was resumed by Daniel Doumerc-Belan. In 1824, the estate was acquired by Joachim Murat's niece, then, in 1829, by the Beer banker Léon Fould. Cécile Furtado-Heine, his granddaughter, had the park landscaped. The estate then became the property of Princess Murat, née Cécile Ney d'Elchingen, granddaughter of Madame Furtado-Heine.
