Pair of marble and finely chased gilt bronze cassolettes. The truncated cone-shaped shaft is decorated at the base with acanthus leaves and a pinecone, the body with a frieze of dancing women à l'Antique and a frieze of tracery. The side grips are lion-headed. The lid adorned with stylized foliage, the fruit-shaped grip. The whole supported by two putti holding the vase at arm's length. The base features an eagle, wings outstretched, set in a wreath of foliage and holding a thunderbolt; the whole framed by garlands of pearls. Resting on six feet. Circa 1800/1810, Russian H. 41 x W. 17 x D. 10.5 cm (Damage, missing parts, broken and glued lids)
