18th century Sèvres porcelain plate Circa 1788, blue mark with two interlaced Ls, date letter illegible but probably LL, painter's mark for Melle Xhrouuet Of contoured form with polychrome decoration in the center of a bouquet of barbs and pansies in a medallion, the wing of interspersed bouquets of blue, pink and yellow flowers, braid formed of a frieze of gold lyres standing out against a blue background, gold fillet on the rim, minor wear. D. 24 cm. Provenance: Possibly from the "Souvenirs et lyres en or" service delivered on July 24, 1788 to the Marquis de Néelle (Niesles) or on August 8 of the same year to Mr. Piccaluga, a Swiss-Italian banker. Notes: The preparatory drawing is preserved in the archives of the Manufacture nationale de Sèvres.
