Damask banqueting tablecloth with knotted ribbon, sprays of wheat and birds, Duke's crown, late 19th/early 20th century. Large banqueting tablecloth in fine linen damask with contrasting decoration, the border with silky undulating ribbon intermingled with supple branches of roses, wild roses, volubilis, daisies, carnations and small berry branches, The knotted ribbon holds a large sheaf of wheat and a garland of roses in full bloom at the spandrels, while the table runner features the same ornamental register in reduction, with partridges snogging, and a frame with waving woody stems. White embroidered complex number under ducal crown in relief. Dim. tablecloth 6.65 m x 2.20 m (good condition, a few pale stains and very small grouped marks).
