A flat, slightly hollow plate in hard porcelain, with a scalloped edge enhanced by a wolf-tooth gold fillet, the marli decorated with four rocaille-style cartouches adorned with polychrome bouquets of flowers on a blue and gold vermiculated ground. Slight wear to the gilding, minor restoration, but overall good condition. Green marks on reverse: AIII (Alexander III) under imperial crown, dated (18)89. Diameter: 25 cm. History: the design of this plate was inspired both by the shape and decoration of a service offered by Louis XV to Christian VII of Denmark in 1768, on the occasion of the latter's visit to Paris.
