KOROVIN Constantin Alexeyevich (1861-1939). Troika galloping through a Russian village in the snow. Oil on cardboard, signed lower right in Latin letters "Constantin Korovine, Russia", preserved under glass in an antique carved wood frame with white-painted molded bench. Some foxing, but overall good condition Sight: H.: 40 cm - W.: 53.5 cm. Frame: H.: 56.5 cm - W.: 69.5 cm. Provenance : French private collection. Biography: Constantin Alekseyevich Korovin was a Russian post-impressionist painter and theater decorator. He studied at the Moscow Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture and completed his training in 1882 at the St. Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts. He taught at the Moscow Art Institute from 1901 to 1918, then became a member of Savva Mamontoff's circle from 1903 to 1922, of Le Monde de l'art and of the Union of Russian Artists. He took part in exhibitions organized by the Société des Ambulants (1889-1899) and the Moscow Society of Art Lovers (1886-1896). He designed sets for Mamontov's private opera house in Moscow Mamontov's private opera in Moscow, for the Bolshoi, and for the Mariinsky and Alexandrinsky theaters in St. Petersburg. After the October Revolution, he settled in Paris in 1923, where he died in 1939.
