19th CENTURY GERMAN SCHOOL. HUMMEL B. Interior of Prince Scherbatoff's salon in Stuttgart. Watercolor on paper signed lower right "B. Hummel" and inscribed at the bottom in French: "Mon salon chez Marie Scherbatoff à Stuttgart, 1852. Irina (princesse T. S. Gagarine), Marie, monseigneur (voyez Pce W. Scherbatoff)", preserved under glass in its original natural wood frame. Good condition. Sight: H.: 27.5 cm - W.: 39.5 cm. Frame: H.: 33.5 cm - W.: 46 cm History: Prince Vladimir Alexievitch Scherbatoff (1826-1888) was embassy secretary in Stuttgart from 1850 to 1855. In 1851, he married Maria Afanassievna Stolypine (1832-1901). Princess Tatiana Sergeyevna Gagarin (1832-1920) lived in Baden-Baden, where she died.
