Two pairs of barbes, Valenciennes, spindles, circa 1760-90. A rare pair of barbes still with the starting threads, traversing branches with stylized flowers, supple motifs festooning the border, Valenciennes round-mesh network, circa 1760-80, cream linen, Dim. 56 cm x 8 cm at widest, each (good overall condition, washed, small accidents to border picots) A pair of very finely spindle-worked butted barbs, charmingly decorated with florettes and small knotted ribbons, Valenciennes square-knit on point, circa 1780-90, very fine cream linen, Dim. 75 cm x 9 cm at its widest, each (small accidents, mainly at the edges) We enclose a beard decorated with foliage-laden twigs, flowers and small fruits, Valenciennes round-mesh network, circa 1760-80, Dim. 56 cm x 9 cm at its widest (numerous small scattered holes, mainly at the bottom).
