The Bourbons, successors to the Habsburgs on the Spanish throne, exercise their political and religious authority through these works: Philip V is depicted as the defender of the Church and the Catholic faith. The composition is divided horizontally into two parts. The celestial part in the upper section and the terrestrial part in the lower section are joined by the column on which the gold monstrance stands in the center.
