Large walnut altarpiece carved in high relief, polychromed and gilded with five panels representing the Flagellation, the Carrying of the Cross, the Crucifixion, the Resurrection and Saint Paul with a cleric, probably the donor. Carrying the Cross, Crucifixion, Resurrection and Saint Paul with a cleric, probably the donor; in an architecture with arcatures, pilasters with flat, leafy balusters. In the upper part, a frieze of cherubs bearing the instruments of the Passion on the left (the column of the Flagellation Flagellation, the whip, the crown, the hammer, the nails and the cross) and a series of cherubs on the right. Lower part adorned with a cartouche with the date 1529, Veronica's veil, shield surrounded by tears, scrolls at the ends with heads of fantastical animals and a cartouche with nails; uprights with shell canopy featuring apostles holding a book, including Saint Andrew, Saint James holding his pilgrim's staff. Southern Netherlands, Ghent, early 16th century, 1529 H.: 130 cm - W.: 210.5 cm (restorations, polychromatic corrections, some wormholes)
