Ovoid bronze seal matrix from the Abbey of Sainte-Claire in Beaulieu (Belgium), three-lobed ram on the back. 15th century Height: 4.9 cm Provenance: private collection, Morbihan. The Abbaye de Beaulieu was a convent of Poor Clares, founded in 1290 by Isabelle de Namur, wife of Guy de Dampière. It was closed in 1785 by Emperor Joseph II and the buildings sold.
