School of the second half of the 19th century after the antique Amazonomachie Rare staff bas-relief with canvas and filasse, wooden frame. H. 83 cm - L. 256 cm (Good condition, chips) Our bas-relief depicts an Amazonomachy based on an original sarcophagus dating from the 2nd half of the the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna (Inv. Vienna (Inv. Antikensammlung, I 169). It was probably made between 1858 and 1881, since the staff technique (a mixture of plaster and filasse) was used after 1858. A similar example was also offered by the Atelier des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1881.
