CHINA, Kangxi period, 18th century - Lot 481
CHINA, Kangxi period, 18th century Porcelain vase Bottle-shaped, resting on a short foot, with a rounded body topped by a long straight neck flared at the opening, featuring an elegant decoration in black lacquer and mother-of-pearl inlays of figures in a landscape on the body, a decoration of three bands of geometric motifs rising to the shoulder, and a decoration of seasonal flowers on the neck. Height: 24 cm Diameter: 34.5 cm Restoration to neck. This type of porcelain piece, with a lacquer background and sophisticated decoration featuring the inclusion of fine multicolored abalone pieces, enjoyed great popularity during the reign of the Kangxi emperor (1661-1722). Only a few examples of this form have appeared on the art market. The scenes depicted on this type of piece are generally animated landscapes, inspired by woodcuts published during the same period.
