CHINA, Qianlong mark and period Rare small porcelain covered vase Baluster-shaped, resting on a short foot, the body has a square cross-section with ridges on the edges, based on the models of archaic Chinese bronze ritual vases of the "Hu" type. It is flanked at the neck and lower part of the body by rounded handles with hooks, two of which feature gilded rings. The whole piece is covered with a monochrome pastel-blue "moonlight" glaze, enhanced by a fine gold-painted decoration underlining the molded relief decoration. The archaic-style decoration features kui dragons, taotie masks, Greek friezes and banana leaves. A six-character Qianlong mark painted in gold under the base, the foot border glazed in black.
