CHINA, 18th century Rare and important covered perfume burner in carved jade Mounted on a short, oval foot, the rounded body is flanked by two wide handles with carved, openwork decoration of five bats gathered around a "Shou" longevity medallion, with two wide, movable rings, the domed lid has a circular grip with openwork decoration of peony flowers, the same decoration repeated over the entire body and lid, carved in slight relief with leafy peony branches. The celadon-toned stone includes a few milky white inclusions. Height: 14.5 cm Width: 19.5 cm Depth: 12 cm Very slight chips. Provenance: Collection of a Burgundian family, passed down through the generations.
