CHINA, 18th century Large porcelain basin Mounted on a short foot, the wide, circular body is flanked by two raised handles in the form of chimera heads holding rings in their mouths, and the neck is straight. The whole is decorated in cobalt blue and copper red underglaze with foreign figures seated on animal mounts and holding various attributes, set in a landscape of pine trees and rocks. The foot and neck rim are decorated with bats flying in clouds, and the neck with Buddhist emblems and flowers. A six-character Qianlong mark in cobalt blue below the base. Height: 30 cm Diameter: 33.3 cm Chips on base and handles. Provenance: - Collection of a Burgundian family, passed down through the generations.
