CLAUDE FRANCOIS: An original plaster bust of the artist's fa - Lot 85
CLAUDE FRANCOIS: An original plaster bust of the artist's face. Created from an impression of the artist's face on April 7, 1963 by sculptor JEAN-PIERRE MAURY, at the singer's home, 46 boulevard Exelmans, Paris.
Born in Paris on January 22, 1932, Jean-Pierre Maury is the last of the Mouleurs-Figuristes artists. A friend of Jacques Prévert during the post-war Trente Glorieuses period, he molded the Parisian nightlife scene, including many celebrities, in his studio at the Le Port du Salut cabaret. Seduced by the man and the artist, many celebrities lent themselves to this ritual. Charles Aznavour, Yves Montand, Johnny Hallyday, Sylvie Vartan, Mick Micheyl, Claude François, Bobby Lapointe, Françoise Hardy, Pierre Perret, Darry Cowl, André Bourvil... and many others. Maury became Salvador Dali's official molder, and then César's, starting with his enlargement period. César used to say of him: "You get the impression that plaster flows from his hands!
