Carved and gilded bronze sconce decorated with two putti sea - Lot 353
Carved and gilded bronze sconce decorated with two putti seated on an architectural frame supporting garlands of foliage. The ensemble is surmounted by an urn topped with a pinecone. The white enameled dial features Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes. Louis XVI style, 19th century H. 80 cm - L. 40 cm (slight damage and wear to the gilding) This cartel is to be compared with a similar model by Jean-Charles Delafosse, architect and designer of ornaments. A similar cartel by Delafosse is illustrated inP. Kjellberg,La pendule française du Moyen Age au XXe siècle, Paris 1997; p. 191 (fig. C); a similar one was auctioned at Sotheby's in Paris on July 7, 2022 (lot 207).
