Gilt bronze and chased clock depicting a woman draped in antique style and holding a ewer. The gilt bronze and black-painted wood base is decorated with interlacing friezes and a rosette. The white enameled dial with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes, adorned with gilded fleurs-de-lis, is signed Jean-Baptiste Baillon, Maître in 1727. Louis XV period H.: 45 cm - W.: 32 cm - D.: 17 cm Jean-Baptiste Baillon belongs to one of the most important watchmaking dynasties of the 18th century. His success is due, among other things, to the major private manufacture he founded in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, a unique establishment in the history of 18th-century watchmaking. Baillon's clientele included French and Spanish royal families and the Garde-Meuble de la Couronne, as well as influential figures at court and in Parisian society.
