Pair of torches in chased and gilded bronze, the shaft formed by a canephore putto, resting on an umbilical base decorated with twisted flutes, pearl friezes and grained laurel. Louis XVI period H.: 27 cm (an element has been added to the spigot to make it suitable for lamps) A variant featuring young canephore fauns was sold by Ader-Picard-Tajan at the Palais Galliera, Paris, on November 24, 1976, lot 56.
