Semainier in speckled mahogany adorned with gilt bronze fillets. Fluted column mounts with spinner feet. Brass drop handles, cloverleaf locks. Grey-veined white marble top. Late Louis XVI period. H. 159 cm - W. 97 cm - D. 43 cm (Scratches) The marble probably comes from the pavement of a church and bears on its reverse an inscription "Virgini Sine Labe Conceptae / pavimentum hoc marmoreum" (Virgin conceived without sin / this marble floor). Provenance : Count Arrivabene Valenti Gonzaga, Venice palace, count's iron mark
