Exceptional, very important, rare and original Tabriz rug North West of Persia Beginning XXth circa 1930 Dimensions 672 x 418 cm Silky quality lambswool velvet on cotton backing. Good condition Density: approx. 7,000 knots per dm2 Beige field decorated with hunting scenes (motifs reminiscent of 17th-century Persian miniatures under Shah Abbas I (known as Shah Abbas the Great, the Persian Louis XIV), with hunters chasing wild animals, and various animals surrounded by cypresses, trees of life richly in blossom, sprigs and flowering plants in polychrome and symmetry, Small lakes with delicately drawn birds framing a large central poly-lobed floral rosette surrounded by two cartouches adorned with medallions in the form of pendants and stylized diamonds. Triple borders, the main one bluish-gray, decorated with polychrome stylized star-shaped floral bulbs, streamers, dragons and multiple multicolored floral buds surrounded by stylized crescent-shaped foliage.
