François Ladatte (1706-1787), attributed to, circa 1760-1770 Bust of a draped man Sculpture in patinated and chased gilt bronze. The pedestal base in later grey marble. Height: 18 cm Francesco Ladetto, known as François Ladatte, was an Italian sculptor who arrived in Paris thanks to his patron Prince Victor-Amédée I de Savoie-Carignan. In 1728, he won the Académie's second prize for sculpture, followed by the first prize in 1729. Admitted to the Académie royale de peinture et de sculpture in 1736, he was named Academician in 1741. Between 1747 and 1750, he produced the silver candelabra and dishes for the Château Royal in Stupinigi, and above all the famous stag that tops the dome.
