A rare and beautiful oval-shaped snuffbox in three-tone 750t - Lot 133
A rare and beautiful oval-shaped snuffbox in three-tone 750th gold, decorated with miniatures painted in fixé sous verre depicting lakeside landscapes after Joseph Vernet on each side, lined with crystal plaques. The lid depicts fishermen near a Roman ruin. The body alternates between figures painted in landscapes and Doric pilasters in two-tone gold. The frame is finely chased and engraved with a frieze of acanthus leaves, medallion flowers and a pair of doves. 18th century. Unidentified master silversmith's hallmark.
