Mazarine" chest of drawers in blackened wood and Boulle marquetry of tinted tortoiseshell and brass, with rich chased decoration of arabesques, scrolls, foliage, butterflies and grotesques. Slightly curved, with uprights in inverted consoles and sides with protruding tops, it opens with four drawers in four rows.early 18th-century work. Gilded bronze ornamentation such as mascaron escutcheons, pull handles, falls, moldings and rosettes. Black leather-covered top. H. 80 cm - W. 119.5 cm - D. 66 cm (accidents and missing parts) This type of decoration, inspired by the ornamentalist Jean Berain, designer of the Chambre et Cabinet Roi Louis XIV, prefigures the rocaille style that inspired many Parisian cabinetmakers of the late 17th and early 18th centuries, including the best of his time, Nicolas Sageot (1666-1731), awarded the title of Master in 1706.
