These prints were immensely successful from the 17th to the mid-19th century. The strong impression they made in Rome was one of the main reasons why Le Brun was chosen prince of the Académie de Saint-Luc in 1676. Le Passage du Granique was also the first painting in the Batailles d'Alexandre series to be woven at the Manufacture Royale des Gobelins, in the late 1660s.
