Manufacture David JOHNSTON / Jules VIEILLARD et Cie in Bordeaux Important fine earthenware service with Chinese Blue Willow pattern in white and blue. Circa 1835 - 1844. 95 dinner plates: D.: 22.5 cm 46 dessert plates 18 soup plates One covered soup tureen Two covered vegetable dishes Two saucers with adhering tray Two high-stemmed presentation bowls One low dessert bowl One fish dish and drainer 2 oval bowls 2 round bowls 4 round serving dishes 2 roasting dishes (one restored) 5 oval serving dishes (one broken in two) One covered mustard pot One shell ravier One dish, 2 plates and a ravier from another oriental service are included. (Very good overall condition, a few knocks on plates, some later restocking pieces). The Willow pattern is a motif inspired by plates produced in China in the 18th century under the Qing dynasty. From the end of the 18th century, this design can be found in productions by English fine earthenware manufacturers such as Minton, and was highly appreciated and produced by numerous English, French, Swedish and American manufacturers.
