TÄNTZER, Johann Der Dianen Hohe und Niedere Jagt-Geheimnüss Copenhagen, J. J. Erythropel, 1689 THE GREAT HUNTING BOOK IN GERMANY AND DENMARK IN THE 17th CENTURY FIRST EDITION. Third part only. In-folio (317 x 188mm). Gothic lettering, title in red and black, engraved headbands and initials. Frontispiece, 4 ff.n.ch., 3-312 pp., 1 f.n.ch., 14 copper plates taken from the pagination, engraved by Friedrich E. Wedell. Brown calf, framed in the Du Seuil style, spine ribbed and decorated. Schwerdt II, 245 (for the third part): "one of the outstanding German books on hunting of the seventeenth century" -- Souhart, 452-453 -- De Futaie en folio, II, 276. Traces of wetness on last few leaves. Johann Täntzer (1633-1690) entered the service of the Danish Court, where he practiced his hunting skills before describing them in this work. It appeared in three parts in 1682, 1686 and 1689, each with its own title page and pagination.
