[Hunting book]. Season 1882-1883 [Paris], [1883-1885] BEAUTIFUL MANUSCRIPT OF PAINTINGS OF A HARE-HUNTING CREW MANUSCRIT in black and red ink covering the season of a hare-hunting crew from March 6, 1882 to February 10, 1883. Large folio (615 x 455mm) COLLATION: 32 unencumbered calligraphic leaves written on the recto and sometimes verso, in black and red ink, on large sheets of wove paper, the text in large frames in black, blue and red ink ORNAMENTATION: richly ornate, historiated bands, cartouches and initials, printed and enhanced by hand with a few colored strokes on each leaf, sometimes illuminated. ATTACHMENT: current État-major map of hunting grounds pasted onto a cardboard plate Modern brown chagrin slipcase These large leaves describe the hunts and catches of a hare-hunting crew from Normandy during the 1882-1883 season. Numerous daily details, given hunt by hunt, make it possible to imagine the days of pursuit in the forests around Verneuil-sur-Avre. The time spent each day is regularly specified, as is the duration of each hunt. We come across the same names of famous veneurs, undoubtedly members of this hare-hunting crew: Baron de Villiers, de Gournay, Labadie, Valpinçon, Viscount de Chambray, de Courval, Viscount de Favière and others.
