THE COPY LATER JOINED THE COLLECTION OF MARCEL JEANSON. CALLIGRAPHY ON VELLUM. Calligraphy by Victor Bouton. Dedication to Henri Gallice 134 pp. on 67 leaves in-4 (251 x 172mm). Between 16 and 20 lines per page. Red and black inks, illuminated initials and text frame, red ruled. ILLUSTRATION: 6 bird figures and 2 coats-of-arms painted in watercolor, 4 pen-and-ink drawings SIGNED BINDING BY CHAMBOLLE-DURU. Green morocco, gilt filleting, ornate ribbed spine, gilt edges on witnesses. PROVENANCE: Henri Gallice (dedication; bookplate) -- Marcel Jeanson (bookplate; Monaco, 1987, lot 269, 28,000 FF hammer) Some rare brown spots This manuscript copies the original edition printed in 1594, in Châlons-sur-Marne. Together with Charles d'Arcussia's treatise published four years later, the Gommer brothers' Autoursserie is the leading reference book on falconry.
