From his stay in the East, he brought back the material for his future treatise on falconry, borrowed from four falconers in the East who, without him, would have been forgotten. Several manuscripts and editions of his treatise bear witness to its importance. All editions of Franchières, except the first (circa 1531, known in two copies), are followed by Guillaume Tardif's Fauconnerie, Arthelouche de Alagona's Vollerie, and Guillaume Bouchet's Recueil des oyseaux de proye. The last two treatises are here in their original editions.
